At Moreletapark Animal Hospital we strive to provide a comprehensive, accessible and friendly service encompassing the general health and wellbeing of cats and dogs. Our facility offers professional veterinary medical and surgical services, grooming and boarding, and a shop outlet for dog and cat food and accessories.


Dr. Erika Pienaar


Dr. Erika Pienaar BVSc grew up in the small town Oudtshoorn and qualified from Onderstepoort Faculty of Veterinary Science in 2012. Dr Erika joined the Moreletapark Animal Hospital team in 2014. She is a general practitioner with a special interest in surgery although she also enjoys veterinary medicine. She knew she wanted to be a veterinarian from the age of 4 and enjoys every day at work. She and her husband are parents to one very spoiled dog, named Karel and a son, Lourens. She also loves the outdoors and enjoys any outdoor activities, especially with friends. In March 2019, Dr. Pienaar was fortunate enough to become a co-owner of Moreletapark Animal Hospital. It is her dream and passion to make the hospital one where patients and clients are equally important and always receives the best service possible.

Dr. Donet Smith


Dr Donet Smith qualified from Onderstepoort as a veterinarian in 2009. She has worked in private practice ever since qualifying and has worked at numerous practices as a locum. Donet is married and has 2 small children. The other members of her family include two dogs and a cat which are all rescues. When she is not at work she enjoys spending time with her family and keeping busy outdoors.

Dr. Marelize Engelbrecht


Dr Marelize Engelbrecht qualified in 2015, where she completed her Community Service at Wollies Animal Shleter and Hammanskraal Vet. She then dedicated 4 years at a busy mixed animal practice in Standerton. Having grown up in Potchefstroom/Carletonville, she always wanted to be a vet. She has a wide spectrum of interests, including surgery, medicine and exotic animals. Marelize is happily married (to an equine vet) with three lovely children, two girls and a boy, and a whole house full of pets. When not busy at work, she loves the outdoors and spending time with her family and horses.

Karin Strijbis


Sr. Karin grew up in Ellisras. After qualifying from Onderstepoort she worked at a mixed practice in the platteland for four years. In 2012 she joined Moreletapark animal Hospital. She is blessed with a wonderful husband and two adorable little girls and another on her way! They happily share their home with two overweight Jack Russels, Ava and Julie.

Yolanda Thiart


Yolanda joined the Moreletapark Animal Hospital team in 2017, and thoroughly enjoys her work as a receptionist. She is blessed with an amazingly supportive husband and 3 very spoiled fur kids Wors, Mia and Lizzy.

Silas Mphamo


Silas joined the Moreletapark Hospital team in 2010 as a kennel hand. His friendly demeanor is a welcome breeze in the reception and vet shop area.

Ilze van Eck


Ilze grw up in Pretoria, and moved back to Gauteng with her husband, 2 lovely children, and their Jack Russel, after living in the Free State for years. She joined the Moreletapark Animal Hospital team in 2018. With a huge heart for animals, and passion for people, being the welcoming point for the practice is her calling. In her spare time she loves being active, jogging and lots of outdoor activities, which help the creative juices flow.

Debbie Pleaner


After qualifying as a veterinary nurse from Onderstepoort, she has been involved in veterinary practices and welfare work for more than 20 years. She joined the team at Moreletapark Animal Hospital in 2015. She is the mother of one highly active and social little boy, who often rescues cats and plenty of guppies.

Alfred Mvula


Alfred has been part of the Moreletapark Animal Hospital team since 1996 as a kennel hand and assistant to the vets and nurses. His dream since a child was to work with animals and that was realized when he got the opportunity at age 34.
